2016 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep and elegant. Soft and silky tannins in the backbone, black cherry and purple flowers are laced with savory notes of dried herbs. There is thyme and marjoram intertwined with vanilla and roasted wild fowl to give the impression of a freshly roasted game bird with a herb/blueberry compote. The palate is soft and inviting, but with the structure to age hidden beneath the lush fruit. Wild blueberries shine through the palate, enhanced by herbs, black pepper and coco.

Intense heat around Labor Day shut down fruit development, in many ways "freezing" the fruit in its current state at the time, which was largely premature. Furthermore, the infamous 2017 Napa fire rushed the harvest, and left the winemaker an unexpected question mark to the final equation.

2018 Cabernet Sauvignon

This complex wine begins with vibrant aromas of red cherry and blackberry followed by a bouquet of violets, cedar, and bittersweet chocolate completed by earthy elements such as flint and dried shells. As the wine opens up, hints of currant and vanilla are revealed. Full bodied, this wine offers up youthful tannins of great quality, enriching the mid palate mouth feel. The mouth feel is round and creamy with smooth tannins, leading to a long finish. Already showing beautifully, this wine will continue to open and gain complexity in the bottle for years to come.
